Typed reminders
Set a reminder for yourself
Simply set a reminder for yourself by messaging the bot [what] [when]:
client conf call friday at 10am
The reminder text can include links or formatting like bold text.
Once the reminder occurs you can:
- mark the reminder as completed to keep in your list of completed tasks
- snooze (or re-snooze) it if you can't address it immediately
- delete it
This is especially useful on mobile, set a reminder for yourself while you are not at your desk.

Set a reminder in a chat or channel
Add Remind to the conversation and mention it using @:
@Remind [what] [when]
@Remind "daily standup meeting" every weekday at 10am
Keep in mind that all participants of that conversation will be able to see your typed reminder, use the Reminders tab to avoid this.
MS Teams does not support bots in private channels, please use the Reminders tab to set reminders there.
Remind other users in a chat or channel
When you press the @ key, Teams lets you search for the person you want to mention. Please note that the user must be a member of the current chat or channel.
When setting a typed reminder in a chat or channel, you can either
@mention other users in your reminder text
The reminder will occur directly in the chat or channel and will be visible to all users, Teams will highlight the reminder for the @mentioned users and notify them, depending on their notification settings.
@Remind "Hi @John and @Jill, please remember to update your project report by EOD and ping @Agnes once done" tomorrow at 4pm
Instruct Remind to send the reminder to the @mentioned users directly
By using the following format, the reminder will be sent to the users in their 1:1 chat with the app
@Remind @Jill @John "Hi, please remember to update your project estimate by EOD and ping @Agnes once done" tomorrow at 4pm
This reminder will not occur in the chat or channel but will be sent directly to the @mentioned users. If you would like to receive a confirmation when the reminder is sent out, you can activate this option in your Remind settings.
If you would like to set a reminder without other users seeing them in the conversation, you need to use the Reminders tab and deactivate the "announce" option when setting a reminder there.
Create a new conversation in channels
When you set a reminder in a channel, Remind will by default continue the conversation.
If you would like to start a new conversation when the reminder occurs, please use the keywords "in new convo":
@Remind in new convo "daily standup meeting" every weekday at 10am
If you would like to make this the default behavior for your channel reminders, you can enable this in your settings and you won't need to type "in new convo" anymore.
Command formatting
Tips for common syntax problems:
- Keep what before when
- Keep date and time together
- Use "" to make it easier for the bot to parse your message
"update the project schedule at 10:15am" tomorrow at 10am
For recurring reminders, please check out the full command reference.
Date and time
The bot understands a variety of date and time formats - some examples are shown below
- Increments of time: in 10 seconds, in 17 minutes, in 1 hour, or in 24 hours.
@Remind "Call Jenny" in 45 minutes
- Specific time: at 6:25pm (12-hour clock), at 15:10 (24-hour clock).
@Remind "Send report" at 4:15pm
- Specific date: on March 1, on 8 Feb.
@Remind "Send annual report" on March 31
- Specific day: every weekday, every Monday.
@Remind "daily standup meeting" every weekday at 10am
If you don't include a time of day, Remind will default to 9:00am on the day or date you choose. You can change the default time in the settings area of the Reminders tab.
